Darla Ann Valiente January 30, 1963 - May 13, 2018 Darla, a long-time resident of South San Francisco, was called to her eternal rest on Sunday, May 13, 2018.

Born January 30, 1963 in Hilo, Hawaii, Darla was born to Myron and Rose Bright, who preceded her in death. She was the middle child with two older siblings, Mark and Karen, and two younger siblings, Sheri and Richard. Darla and her family called Kaneohe home until they moved to Pacifica in 1973. She attended Terra Nova High School for 2 years before transferring to Thornton High School where she graduated valedictorian of her class.

Darla met her future husband Joe in 1978 and they married in 1983. Darla and Joe excelled at parenthood, idolized by their friends and family members for being the consummately loving and caring couple - who touched people's lives with love and light. On August 7, 2009, after 26 years of marriage, Joe passed away of pancreatic cancer at the age of 50. Darla and Joe had shared a unique and undying bond that has survived them both, and now continue to live and flourish within their children, Joe Jr., Danny, Monica, their granddaughter, Aria Rose, and their numerous nieces and nephews.

Darla's passion outside of her immediate family was connecting and helping others, and her career as an IT help desk manager allowed her to deliver on this. Darla was diagnosed with lung cancer in June 2017. Two months later, her family was blessed with the birth of her first grandchild, Aria Rose. Aria's arrival helped strengthen Darla's resolve; giving her even more reason to battle her illness.

On May 13, 2018, surrounded by her family, closest friends, and loved ones, Darla was called to rest and now joins her husband Joe. When people think about Darla, they remember her first for her positive attitude, her helpful nature, and best for her contagious laugh. She was always the life of any party and made sure she enjoyed each of life's precious moments. Darla lived her life the best way she knew how - lovingly, empathetically, and unapologetically. We miss her everyday and will continue to miss her, but we're comforted by the fact that her spirit and love are with us always
