At the early age of 48, Rob died peacefully on 13 December 2011 in the presence of his family after a brief illness in the hospital in San Rafael, CA. He was a beloved son to his father Frank Braehmer and mother Sigrid Domke; a loving, proud father to his son Kai Braehmer, and a close friend to his brothers Frank Braehmer, Jr and Michael Vogt. And he loved his black Lab Caba. Rob, man, we miss you!!!
Born on 3 March 1963 in the US Army Hospital in Frankfurt, Germany where his father was stationed, Rob subsequently lived with his parents and his older brother Frank at Fort Ord, CA, in Tokyo, Japan, at the Presidio of San Francisco, CA, in Pacifica, CA, and in the family home in Corte Madera, CA, before he settled in Petaluma eighteen years ago. In his pre-teen years Rob was a playful, rambunctious kid, often a bit too fearless and competitive in getting lots of "air" and speed with his bicycle. Rob travelled with the family to Germany, Japan, the Philippines, and Taiwan. Rob graduated from Terra Nova High School in Pacifica, CA and upon completion of his military service he embarked on a successful career as an IT manager that spanned almost 20 years, unfortunately cut short by illness.
Rob was a member of the Presidio of San Francisco Swim Team for eight years, enjoyed riding his jet-ski, his motorcycles, his sports cars, and he loved to watch the NASCAR races at Sears Point and on TV. Rob repeatedly remarked that the happiest events of his life were marrying Lisa Lewis in 1992 and the birth of their son Kai on 12 September 1995. And, yes, indeed: Rob's most precious gift he left to his world is his creative, charming, and clever 16 year old son Kai.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial and Celebration of Rob's life on Wednesday, 21 December 2011 at 3:00 pm in the Hillside Church, 2689 Adobe Road in Petaluma, CA. Rob's family respectfully asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Trust Fund for his son Kai Braehmer, in care of Frank Braehmer, 1433 Joan Drive, Petaluma, CA 94954
